Ellie was so excited to meet her mum and dad that she made her arrival into the world a few days early. I dont think her family minded, as it gave them an extra couple of days to lavish her with love. She is the sweetest little thing.

archie { twelve days new }
When I edit a newborn shoot I can tell I am rather obsessed with itty bitty newborn toes. While Archie was settling I think i took twenty shots of his feet. And then we rocked him and soothed him and fed him and even took him for a drive around town. But he thought he looked cuter with his eyes wide open, and who am i to argue?

studio closed + bookings
Just a note that the Studio will be closed from this Friday the 30th of July to Monday the 9th of August. We will be getting prepared for the Christmas rush! A much needed week of relaxation mixed with a ton of organisation. Actually I dont think there will be much relaxation... I am doing the new window display at Lilly Lane Picture Framers, getting the Christmas card designs organised and maybe even working on the new web site. Just to name a few jobs! If i get some spare time i have a few props I would love to paint too... And i want to go and visit my dad.
And just another reminder that we are booking out way ahead! At the moment we have a four week wait just to get to your shoot date. And its only July. ( And you can tell who reads the blog when they call to book, cause people are booking for October and November aleady! )

melissa and adam { engagement shoot }
We had a lovely shoot planned for Melissa and Adams engagement shoot, but unfortunatley the weather wasnt playing the game so we had to shoot in the studio instead. Worked out well though, we got some hot shots. And yes, Adam is wearing his Optimus Prime shirt for his engagement pics. I am pretty sure some Transformers will make an appearance at the wedding too.

all systems back up!
Woo hoo! I picked my computer up this afternoon and so far its all systems go. The large list of email i have will hopefully get answered in the next day or two. Then its back to editing with all guns blazing. So to speak.
And on a side note, what do you think of the change in blog design?

jack { nine months old }
Jack is a busy boy, he spent half the session waving his arms around like he was a traffic controller, and the other half making his mum and big sister jump up and down like crazy people so we could see some smiles. I think everyone had a nap afterwards, me included. Actually, Jack was asleep the second the session was over, he didnt even wait till he got to the car.

william { seven and a half months old }
Is he not the cutest? He had me laughing the whole session, he was doing these amazing things with his eyebrows, but it was so quick i couldnt even catch it on camera. I love all the little things that they do. He poked his tongue out for his first session and kept that trend going for this session too. His little quirks. Love that.
houston, we have a problem
Okey dokey, so i have managed to get some internet working on one of my systems, but my main system had to go in for an emergency operation this morning. Evidently she caught a nasty virus that required immediate action. So this means i have no access to my email, or to the majority of work that i have to do. The computer techs tell me six day turn around, i have begged them for it sooner so lets see what happens.
In the meantime, i wont be able to answer emails, place orders or edit photo shoots. At least it happened now and not in the middle of peak wedding season.

random friday
Ok Friday, lets get random. These are things bouncing around here at the Rocket Ranch.
- Digital files on disc. It seems like every second person is now asking for them. I dont supply files on disc. Yet. I will start doing it soon but i need some time to sit down and think about how i want to do it. Keep an eye on the blog for details. Its not something i want to do, but clients want it. And i want to keep my clients happy campers. I'm just worried about quality control.
- Big changes coming up around here. We are changing direction a bit in the very near future! I just need to wait and get a few things squared away before its all official.
- i am over winter already. somebody please call summer and tell it to hurry up.
- We are still booking out a fair ways in advance. If you would like a newborn session, please please let me know your due date. Otherwise you might miss out. We are taking portrait bookings now for late August.
- When the weather warms up i hope everyone books a session outside. I need some colour in my life!
- The local council is ripping up trees everywhere and making an awful mess. Most of my favourite spots are now destroyed. I am hoping they have a really REALLY good reason for ripping up perfectly good trees and making my life difficult.
- Did i mention i was over winter? i think i did... next...
- I have a day put aside soon to get systems all organised and in place, which will hopefully get me all organised for the christmas mayhem. Some time to work on the business instead of in it.
- I liked the new A-Team movie.
- i am sure that hot chocolate is one of the main food groups. positive
- The story behind the images above. What does a photographer do on a Saturday night, after seeing a movie. Driving home in the fog. She sees the light. And gets her camera. And begs her fiancee to stand on a roundabout in the dark, in the fog, in the middle of the night. On a Saturday. Wearing a big black coat. And its amazing how much traffic there is on a foggy Saturday night. People were lapping around the roundabout yelling encouragement.

hamish { seven months old }
One of the things i love most about my job is seeing my little clients grow up. Because I dont see them every day, the difference between visits is huge. It amazes me every time. I love seeing their new expressions starting to come out and their personality develop. Especially when they give me faces like this, and even a thumbs up. Love that.

indi grace { on location }
How absolutely wondful to get out of the studio! I love shooting on location. Big fat puffy heart love it. Especially with cute girls in cute outfits. Although we got off to a rocky start and thought we may have to pull the plug before we even got half a dozen shots off, a change of location seemed to do the trick and we were away.
