Just one or a big bunch. Ballons are big bubbles of happy colour in a photo.

matilda { five days new } newborn session
Miss Matilda was the smallest, tiniest sleepiest little baby girl and I was totally smitten with her. I have to admit that four newborns in two days was making me very clucky, and Matilda was the last baby, so I almost entertained thoughts of having another baby. But then I had a great idea. I'd just photograph newborns instead. Brilliant!

adelyn { seventeen days new }
Adelyn was seventeen days new for her modelling debut, baby number three out of four from my model call. She may be a brand new babe but she certainly told me when she didnt like the way I was posing her. The baby always runs the session. To see the full shot of her in the very fancy french bucket check out my facebook page. Its one of my favourites from this session. She just looks adorable.

emmett { seventeen days new } newborn session
Emmett was the only boy when I did my newborn modelling sessions, and he was very handsome! His Mamma bought in the red and blue blanket so we worked it into the session. Look at those little lips, is he not the cutest ?

holly { twelve days new }
A couple of weeks ago I found myself with two whole work days and no appointments, and while i'm still not sure how that happened I had to fill those days with something wonderful, so I did a model call for newborns. I got to meet and snuggle four brand new little babies and it reminded me that they are all so different.
So if I stand on my tippytoes and stretch my arms up as high as I can ( which isnt very high, because Im pretty short, but work with me here! ) then that's about how much I learnt over two days. I have photographed lots of newborns over the years, but I made sure to try lots of new props and some new ideas. Get out of that comfort zone.
First up was Holly, who was born weighing in just over 11lb. She tried to resist sleep but her mumma took her for a lap around in the block in the car and she couldnt resist any longer, she arrived back in the studio sound asleep and ready for her close up.

mia grace { a newborn session }
The divine Miss Mia was eleven days old when she came to the studio for her session. And its funny I have blogged two images of her on her tummy, because she didnt like going on her tummy at all. She would wake up, look at me and say "I want my mummy and I might be hungry too."

eden { nearly nine months } on location
Isnt she the cutest thing! I know, I've said it before, but I do get the cutest clients. Eden's mum and dad travelled all the way down from Sydney for their session ( and maybe they were visiting some other people too ) so I met them a bit of the way and had the session on our friends farm near Gundagai. Totally wishing this was my backyard. Mum said she was a smiley girl and she absolutely rocked those smiles and those big blue eyes.

ryder + evie + luca { a session on location }
Boys on bikes and girls with dolly prams. At one stage I was pretending I had ants in my pants to get Evie to smile, but she was so concerned about me I had to stop. Such a sweetie. We didnt have a dolly to put in the pram so we used a piece of bark and Ryder named it Susie.

rupert & anastasia { on location }
I had photographed Anastasia before but this was Ruperts first shot behind the camera. He was not my biggest fan but we kept working and right at the end he gave me some smiles, mixed in with those serious expressions I love too. Thats one of the things I love most about photographing kids, their expressions are real.

leo { twenty one months old }
See that middle pic of Leo, on the trike, laughing? Id like to think it was me because he thought I was funny, but we were right at the end of the session, Leo was over it, and his mum pulled out all the stops to get him to laugh.
Leo's big sister Sadie was there and who could resist getting some shots of this beautiful girl?

back at work today
Its my first official day back at work today after over a year off on maternity leave, although I have been doing lots of stuff trying to get organised for the past couple of weeks. Still lots to do. ( Although I have to admit I did just make an appointment to go and get my hair coloured today because there may be some grey bits showing through, and I cant go back to work looking all grey )
Bookings are now open for photo sessions on Thursdays and Fridays, either in the studio or on location. I have lots booked in already from the waiting list and people are booking as far ahead as December so if you are after a certain date or time its a good idea to book it in because I do book out pretty far ahead.
If you havent go a copy of the new price list please email me skye(at)skyerocketstudio.com.au and I will send you one out.
And because you cant have a post without a photo here are some shots of my three gorgeous kiddos, on my favourite old trike. The teddy bears the boys have as passengers were presents for their first birthday.
miss evie { eleven months old }
What a cutie. After a false start ( can i still blame it on baby brain? ) we regrouped and got some cute shots of Miss Evie, she was a very big fan of the rocking horse, and looked super cute in her pink polka dot bloomers.

kade and bianca
I had photographed Bianca when she was Kades age, so we thought we best get some shots of Kade at about the same age, before their new little brother or sister comes along. Kades loves cars and firetrucks so I incoprorated them into the session. Lets just say that his big sister was a much more willing subject, and Im very thankful she was there doing puppet shows and making him laugh by chasing Barbie around with Batman.

when will the studio reopen?
And that will also be the ten year anniversary of when the business started. Ten years. Wow.
The studio will operate on a part time basis with appointments available on a Thursday and Friday.
I'll start taking bookings in March, once I have all those on my waiting list booked in. If you are on my waiting list you have probably been there for quite a while and you should receive an email in the next couple of weeks to get bookings started.
Please keep in mind when you go to book that i often book out three months in advance so if you have a particular date you need let me know as soon as you can. Email is the best way to contact me : skye(at)skyerocketstudio.com.au
But first I need to get the studio floor painted, the price lists finalised, new packaging and samples ordered etc etc etc. After having a year off its almost like starting all over again.

caitlyn { and the little red piano }
Allow me to introduce my beautiful niece Caitlyn. She can actually play that little red piano. She's arty and quirky and I thought she was amazing in her role as Dodger in the production of Oliver. I loved photographing her and I think there wont be as long of a gap between shoots this time. ( Not counting the fact that Ive already done another one I still have to edit. )
