Toby has a freckle on his second toe. He didnt want to go to sleep. He looks great in grey. His big brothers eyelashes are amazing.

jades cake smash

At her actual birthday party Jade picked up a huge slice of mudcake and attempted to eat the whole thing, so i thought she would have a ball at her cake smash. So of course she pushed it off the cake stand, kicked it and then refused to even eat any of it. There was even some tears. Really. Such a photographers daughter!

joey { newborn session } 14 days old

I photographed Joey's big sister when she was a newborn so now it was Joeys turn. He did let his sister jump in for a couple of shots though. She loves her little brother.

latest news at the rocket ranch

Its the middle of the year and i am already booked out for the rest of the year. I normally book out a couple of months in advance, but this is a new record for me. I am not taking on a huge amount of work though, I have jade in daycare two days a week and then i try to do bits and pieces around her on the other days, but as anyone who has kids knows, that doesnt always work. She is also starting to refuse her afternoon naps, so that makes it even harder to find a couple of hours a day to get any work done.

In other news, I am pregnant and due to have twins in December. See how it just got even more complicated? So at the moment I am not taking any new bookings, jade was six weeks early and I had to cancel sessions when she was born, and I am really hoping to not have to do that again. I am also not doing a waiting list for next year, as I am not sure when i am going to be able to go back to work. I will try to make an exception for those who have gift vouchers, but I will just have to wait and see how life with a one and half year old and two newborn twins babies turns out. I imagine its going to be pretty crazy.

I love watching a family grow and getting to be a part of that is one of the favourite aspects of my job. Albie is number three for this family, and I have photographed each of them around the same age.

sick days

I cant remember the last time i had a day off because I was sick. Normally I just work through it. But not lately. Taking a couple of days off to recover. Back soon.

bookings for the rest of the year

I know, its crazy, but I am pretty close to being totally booked up for the rest of the year. I have some space available in October and November but thats it. At the moment I cant take any bookings for next year as I need to wait till i get Jades daycare dates confirmed. I am normally closed for the first three weeks of January to rest and recharge after the Christmas rush. Its way too early to be thinking that far ahead, its only May, but I need to be organised!

On a totally different note I think Jade looks cute as a button in her newspaper hat, these were taken ages ago but i only found them recently. Next time i make a newspaper hat I really need to look at the text that is on the edge. In the black and white one it says "$65m boos" on her head!

jamie & zoe { on the farm }

It was a beautiful day for a visit to the farm, I think I might have to buy one for myself. Wouldnt it be fabulous to have this in my backyard for a photo session whenever I wanted? It was all looking lovely even though not very long ago it was all underwater with the floods.

jasper { twelve months old }

Bless his little cotton socks but this boy is cute! This was his one year session, he got the timber ferry for his first birthday and he thought the studio floor was a great place for pushing it around.

charlotte and will

Charlotte came to the studio for a visit and to show off her skills at standing up, she bought her big brother along but wasnt very happy about having to share the spotlight with him. 

I love the shot of the two of them together. Sibling photos with young kids are always a challenge, but i think this one rocks!

jade { eleven months old } part two

These might be the favourite images i have taken of Jade. I love the colours and her gorgeous little expressions! Daddy came along to this session to help out, but even then the smiles lasted all of five minutes and then the serious face was back on. After about ten minutes she had decided that all those leaves were much more interesting than me. End of session.

She will be turning one in less than two weeks. Unfortunatley the weather will be cold so Im not sure if I will get to do the birthday session I had planned, it might be a cake smash in the studio instead. I do have a family session booked in Albury with the fabulous Briony Hardinge and a vintage lounge, and I have been looking for the perfect outfits to wear. Still looking though.

jade { eleven months old } part one

This session almost didnt happen. I had done two location scouts to find autumn leaves and didnt have much luck, and on the day i tried to do this session ending driving all over town, so by the time i pulled up to shoot Jade was already over the whole thing. I gave up trying to find leaves and just looked to grab some shots in the last of the golden light and somehow managed to grab these just before the sun disapeared in a random park as i was driving home.
