matilda { six days old }

At first I thought Matilda wasnt going to sleep for me. But I wrapped her in my softest pink blanket and soon she went off to dreamland. And I know I have posted two feet shots, but i couldnt decide if i liked toes up or toes down better, so I just blogged both.

The hat is from my MILK collection. ( Which is mother-in-law-knitted ).

cheyenne { rainbows and sunshine }

Stripey leggings, old tyres, rainbow umbrellas, hot pink, old pallets and one gorgeous girl make for some really cute portraits.

the fabulous five

Archer, Priyah, Ruby, Harry and Baxter. The fabulous five. I cant believe how much they have grown! Trying to get all five to look at the camera and smile was near impossible, I ended up having a stuffed pony on my head. It was worth it, cause they are such gorgeous kids.

I caught Priyah checking herself out in the mirror. Well, I would too if i looked that good!

the wedding of alison and leslie

Ali is going to down in history as the most organised bride. Ever. On the day of the wedding, I could see she inherited this from her mum. The whole day went like clockwork. The sun was shining, the weather was beautiful, the bridal party was fabulous and Ali and Les rocked the camera.

workshops + dates away

Just wanted to update the blog with some dates that I will be away over the next couple of weeks.

I will be closed from the 7th to the 10th of May as I will be in Melbourne for the weekend.

Then the following week I will be in Surfers Paradise for a portrait worksop, so I will be closed from the 13th of May to the 24th of May. There will be some amazing US photographers teaching so i hope to get lots of learning!

While I am away i wont be able to return phone calls or emails so please be patient till i return, and i will get back to everyone.

I have been taking heaps of bookings and am now fully booked ( and then some! ) for the month of May - and June is starting to fill up too! If you would like a new born shoot please let me know your due date so i can pencil some time in the diary for you.

Its been crazy busy here and I would love to thank everyone for being patient as i work through the editing. I have had some gorgeous shoots lately that I cant wait to share on the blog.

The pic is from Cheyenne's shoot, I saw those blossoms and had to use them in a shoot! I knocked on the door of the lady who owned the property and asked if she would mind if i did some shots under the tree. She was horriffied as the lawn was quite long, but that's why I wanted to use it! The next day the lawn was all mowed. Photographers see things differently.

melissa { rock shoot part one }

What do you get when you mix a fabulous model called Melissa, an amazing make up artist called Soph, and a photographer called Skye? This shoot. And it rocked! We started off nice and simple in the studio, just playing with different looks. Then things started to take on a life of their own ( as they do when i get to play!! ) and we ended up on location.

Melissa did an amazing job with the styling, and did her own hair, and Soph did all the fabulous make up. More looks from this shoot will come up on the blog over the next week or two.

I think maybe i am a weee bit obsessed with collages.
Again, keeping all your frames the same will help unify the look.

down in the garden

I just read on someone elses blog, a great post about one of their best friends. So i thought I should do the same thing. Right? But I'm not that eloquent with words. Bit I'm going to give it a try. So this is Melissa. She is sassy, sweet, funny, caring... The friends who are lucky enough to make it into her inner circle will be protected like family. She is the one I ring when I have a fight with Craig and am on my way to another state in tears, the one i ring when my my mum gets sent to hospital again, and the one i randomly text thoughts to, just so i can see what she will reply back.

Next year will be the big three-oh for Lissa. Yup, she's wayyyy younger than me. Just a spring chicken. And for her birthday we are going to Vegas. I cant think of a better way to celebrate this birthday with her. If Melissa was a city, she would be Vegas. Cause she is a rock star.

I have a weekend in May in my diary to go to Melbourne for a visit, to give her hugs before she flies off to Canada for two whole years. I am going to miss her big time. There is a high chance we will do some kind of crazy shoot while we are there, but before that I have a few more posts of our last shoot to come up on the blog. Stay tuned!

look at the photo lady

This is the expression you will most likely get
when you tell your kids to look at the photo lady and smile.

This is the expression you will most likely get
if you act like a crazy person and pretend to fall off a child sized chair.

sometimes

Sometimes you just dont want to have your photo taken. That's OK.

And once Mummy was all funny and pretended to fall off the chair
you warmed up and started to have fun.

But the pouty face... I love the pouty face.

callie { dance shoot part three }

Rounding off our last in the series for Callie. Red hot. Did i mention how much fun i had doing this shoot?

william { six days old }

William's mummy was so organised, she had someone phone me when she went into labour so I had a spot available to shoot little William in his first week. ( Newborns are best shot in the first week, when they are really sleepy and will curl up for me ).

William would fight some poses sooo much, you could almost hear him saying "not doing it, not doing it, not doing it!". And then i would move him and he would drop into a different pose that was absolutely perfect. And even though he had a habit of sleeping with his mouth open, who can resist those squishy little lips? At one stage I was holding him and he snuggled under my chin. My heart just about melted into a big puddle at my feet.

callie { dance shoot part two }

Part two of Callie's dance shoot. I am trying to learn off camera flash so I had a practice, while poor Callie stood on one leg in high heel shoes. This girl was a trooper!
